Hairdressing’s in our blood.
Jo Lewis and Garry Farr have been heading up Anthony James since 2001 – adding to the friendly team and building up a loyal customer following over the years.
It started years before that, at least in spirit. Jo is a third generation hairdresser – her Gran owned a salon in Northern Ireland and her mum brought the family trade to England, where she established a business of five hairdressing salons.
So it was no surprise to anyone in the family when Jo started her own hairdressing career at the age of 16. She became qualified in hairdressing, teaching and won several awards for her styling skills.
This was now based in the one salon, Annette’s, in Central Street – and renamed the salon Anthony James after her two young sons.
Jo’s sons are now all grown up and the salon is firmly established with a fantastic local reputation. To this day Jo is inspired by the memory of her Gran – perhaps that’s why she understands that wanting to look good doesn’t stop when you hit 30. Or 50. Or even 80.
The family business was always firmly rooted in putting the customer at its heart and Jo has built Anthony James on this ethos, ensuring that her team share this approach. And, judging by the comments from satisfied customers, it seems to be working.
“It’s so refreshing to find a hairdresser who has skill, patience and the time to listen to what clients want. Thanks Jo.”
